An Affiliate of the American Association of University Professors
Members of NFA are members of AAUP. AAUP is the only national organization exclusively representing the interests of all college and university faculty members.
Why Join NFA
A strong NFA chapter helps ward off problems by establishing a visible presence of a group known for its diligence and vigilance. Nationally, the AAUP has been around for more than eighty years promoting and protecting faculty interests. Tenure, due process, academic freedom, and college governance are issues that have been kept alive and strengthened by its activities. NFA/AAUP is not a union; it is a professional organization dedicated to strengthening the integrity of the profession. In many respects, it is as vital to your professional existence as any professional discipline organization.
Membership in NFA puts you in consultation with colleagues at the national and state level and with those of us on campus who can help you keep the rights you already have as a faculty member. Your membership tells everyone that you care enough for your profession to stand up for its rights. Your elected leaders of your CSN Chapter of NFA are concerned with those issues that are important to you. Please never hesitate to call or bring your concerns or suggestions to a meeting. It’s the combined efforts uniting in one voice that makes a difference for all of us. Being a member of NFA is not just the smart thing to do, it’s the right thing to do.

NFA Legal Defense Program
The NFA Legal Defense Program is to ensure that members are provided appropriate legal assistance to facilitate due process in employment-related matters of common interest to the membership. The nature and extent of this assistance is explained in the document "Nevada Faculty Alliance Committee A / Legal Defense Policy and Procedures."
